How Do My Teeth Affect My Entire Body?
A poorly aligned jaw or improper bite can create a domino effect to your facial appearance, you may not even be aware that the aesthetic changes you experience are connected to your oral health. The misalignment of your upper and lower jaw can cause undue pressure on your teeth, making them gradually deteriorate. Your teeth may appear chipped or worn, or your bottom teeth may shift and become crooked. As a result, gum recession can occur. The lips can begin to change shape or lose volume, and wrinkles and creases can form or deepen. These cosmetic alterations are often accompanied by a number of physical changes. The bones and muscles of the jaw joint have a very delicate relationship to each other, and an imbalanced bite often leads to migraines, increased muscle tension, and additional disruptions to muscle activity. The disproportionate force from biting problems can “pull” on your head, thereby “pulling” your entire posture so that you develop a slouch. The positioning of your shoulders and hips can follow suit and become asymmetrical, causing one shoulder or hip to be visibly higher than its counterpart. Ultimately, these are developmental changes that can all stem from malocclusion, or irregularities in teeth alignment and bite. For this reason, treating a misaligned jaw can not only enhance the function of your teeth and mouth, but it can also encourage proper muscle growth to improve your appearance and diminish visible signs of aging. Our cutting-edge and completely non-invasive approaches can reestablish a healthy balance between the upper and lower jaws, aligning their underlying structures to where they feel the most comfortable and organic. This can provide comprehensive facial rejuvenation that is achieved with regard to your total body health.
Q3D CBCT 3D IMAGING SYSTEM
Cosmetic concerns, such as chips in the enamel, gaps between teeth, and tooth misalignments, can affect your bite and jaw function in a number of ways that you may not expect. Our practice utilizes the advanced Q3D CBCT 3D Imaging System in conjunction with treatment planning to better understand how different aesthetic imperfections may be impacting the joints, muscles, and soft tissues of your skeletal structure and influencing your physiological well-being. With the ability to provide high-resolution, three-dimensional x-rays of your face and jaw, this state-of-the-art technology helps Dr. Roland to take a “whole body” approach in determining the most effective treatment to achieve your dream smile while furthering your oral, as well as your overall, health. This sophisticated dental imaging system can allow our team to more accurately assess the nature of your concerns and develop a comprehensive treatment plan to provide beautiful results.
Oxygen Ozone Therapy
Oxygen ozone (O3) is a tri-atomic oxygen particle that has been scientifically proven to help prevent and sterilize harmful bacteria found in the mouth as well as throughout water-based dental instruments. When combined with various dental treatments and procedures, Oxygen Ozone Therapy can create a much cleaner environment and help achieve superior outcomes without the use of chemicals that may produce toxic side-effects. At the Center for Innovative Dentistry and Facial Aesthetics, the implementation of this advanced technique has revolutionized the standard and quality of care Dr. Roland is able to provide for you or your child both during and after treatment.
Organic Cleaning Agent
Teeth cleanings begin and end with the application of an all-organic cleaning agent. The refreshing formula is chemical-free and contains only all-natural ingredients. While safely whitening teeth and removing stains, this amazing product also supplies vital nutrients to the teeth, which keeps them strong. As it cleans, the formula simultaneously regulates pH levels in the mouth to reduce damaging acidity.
Mercury-Free Treatment
Not long ago, one of the standard treatments for cavities and tooth decay involved amalgam fillings. Amalgam is a material that contains mercury, a toxic mineral that gave the teeth a metal appearance after treatment. Over the years, it has been found that even small levels of mercury can raise risks to your health. There was also an extensive filtration process required before dental offices could even dispose of mercury from their practices. The good news is, filling material made of strong composite or porcelain is now becoming the norm in dental practices all across America, and The Center for Innovative Dentistry and Facial Aesthetics uses materials that are completely mercury-free in all of our procedures. These composite materials are not only safer alternatives to amalgam, they also have a cosmetic benefit in that they look more like natural teeth enamel – hence the name, tooth-colored fillings. Therefore, when you have a filling with composite materials, it’s virtually impossible to detect. All of our composite restoration materials are BPA free.
Natural Alternatives to Sedation
Stressed about your next dental visit? For patients who find dental procedures to be anxious or uncomfortable we employ an all-natural technology which remediates stress at the midbrain level. Unlike traditional sedation dentistry, there are no side effects, no risks, and no recuperative time with natural sedation dentistry. This system blocks the effects of adrenaline and sensory stimuli to interrupt the stress response. This fosters a natural state of relaxation, leading to a refreshing and rejuvenating dental experience.
Herbal Teeth Cleaning Products
Herbal teeth cleaning products are typically organic-based, mixing essential oils and alcohol-free materials to create effective cleaning solutions that work to keep the teeth healthy and reduce bacteria in the mouth.
Dye free and Gluten Free Polishing Paste
During your routine dental cleanings here at our practice, you will be treated to dye-free and gluten-free polishing paste, which can provide a healthy new sheen to your teeth. Many patients also comment on its great taste!
Natural Oral Hygiene Products Containing No Chemicals or Dyes
We use natural oral hygiene products for all of our patients. These products contain no harmful chemicals or dyes that may affect the health or appearance of your teeth.
Digital X-rays (radiation)
With digital x-ray technology, your exposure to radiation can be reduced by up to 90%. Replacing traditional x-ray film with digital techniques also allows our practice to eliminate the need for developing chemicals which may add toxins to the environment.
Chartless Office
At The Center for Innovative Dentistry and Facial Aesthetics, we rely on state-of-the-art computers and secure software to schedule appointments, keep track of your dental treatment processes, and maintain your dental records. Why Choose Natural Sedation?
For those patients who choose to minimize the amount of medication and chemicals that enter their body, our natural process offers a holistic relaxation alternative to traditional sedation dentistry methods. Using a variety of proven natural techniques, our experienced dentist – Yasaman Roland, DDS — can help you achieve and maintain a deep state of relaxation throughout your treatment. By providing the body with natural supplements that encourage a restful state of mind, eliminating distracting external stimuli, and applying gentle micro-current that induces relaxation within the brain, it can be possible for you to receive the dental work you need without stress or discomfort. Furthermore, instead of feeling drugged or sedated after your appointment, you can feel rested and ready to participate in your regular activities for the day.
What Can I Expect During Natural Sedation?

The inside of the mouth can host a number of bacteria, viruses, and germs left behind by the foods and/or beverages we ingest. Without proper oral care, these microorganisms may become dominant and suppress the immune system, eventually leading to infection and sometimes disease. In certain instances, several microorganisms will bunch up and live together, creating what is known as a biofilm in the mouth. As opposed to one microorganism causing an infection, this biofilm can support a mixed infection composed of multiple different microbes, generally requiring a diversity of pharmaceuticals and chemical solutions to eliminate the various infections.
At the Center for Innovative Dentistry and Facial Aesthetics our cosmetic dentist, Dr. Yasaman Roland, uses an all-natural oxidant known as ozone (O3) to help eliminate harmful bacteria and other disease-causing microorganisms in the mouth, including those that have grouped together to form a biofilm. Often combined with water and delivered through water-based dental instruments, oxygen ozone creates a transient oxidative burst when introduced into a living system. Microorganisms that come in contact with oxygen ozone generally have no natural defense against this oxidative burst and will typically burst and die as they become overstressed by the oxidant.
In addition to eliminating these infections, the oxidative burst produced by oxygen ozone also induces a multitude of natural biochemical and physiological reactions that often help to support healthy tissues, encourage better blood flow, enhance the immune system, and stimulate a more rapid healing process. Furthermore, because oral health is directly connected to the wellness of the entire body, the cleaner, healthier environment created in the mouth should have a positive impact on the body’s overall well-being.
Uses for Oxygen Ozone Therapy in Dentistry
Oxygen ozone therapy can be used to enhance virtually all outcomes of dentistry, often without the need for chemicals that may produce toxic side effects. At our practice, Dr. Roland employs oxygen ozone in the form of ozonated solution dispersed through water-based dental tools. In addition to its efficacy for eliminating bacteria in the mouth, oxygen ozone has also been proven to kill harmful microorganisms residing in the lines of dental equipment far better than any chemicals on the market, effectively producing the cleanest instruments and environment for treatment.
Some key uses for oxygen ozone in our dental practice include:
Periodontal (Gum) Disease Treatment – Ozone solution can be flushed directly into infected gum pockets to help sterilize diseased tissue and promote healthy tissue reattachment/regrowth.
Root Canals and Cavities – Ozone solution may be used to sterilize all abscesses of the tooth and potentially stop the progression of decay. This can be particularly beneficial for children, as the need for drilling on the tooth may be dramatically reduced or even eliminated.
Bacteria, Infection, and Tooth Decay – Ozone solution may be able to destroy decay-causing bacteria and infections in the mouth, which could lead to a reduced risk for heart disease and other serious illnesses.
Tooth Sensitivities – Ozone solution can often reduce the sensitivity of exposed tooth roots by helping to harden tooth structure.
Ultimately, oxygen ozone therapy has undergone extensive scientific research and is considered to be a safe treatment with the proper application and dosage. Whether performed alone or in combination with another dental procedure, oxygen ozone therapy can often enhance the treatment process and help produce exceptional outcomes that positively influence the overall health of your mouth and body.
